The Toolkit

The MNN Toolkit is intended to be a useful resource for you and your team as Local Neighbor Net (LNN) coordinators, whether you are just starting a new LNN or already have an established history of neighborhood connection.

How to use this document

This Toolkit is not intended to be a definitive how-to guide. There is no single solution for all. Rather, find what’s right for your LNN and use these recommendations as a starting point. LNN will not need every tool that is available. Take what you need, leave what you don’t, and come back often for new ideas. Your LNN will change over time, and new needs will arise.

While you are Getting Started - The Fundamentals

This section contains ideas that are likely to be most useful during the early formation of your LNN. They consist of recommended “best practices” and methods that LNNs will likely find useful regardless of their particular interests or focus. The topics mirror those of the Getting Started Guide and provide more information and context.

As you Strengthen Your LNN - The Tool Library

As you look for ways to deepen connections between neighbors, your activities will likely revolve around one of the core areas of MNN focus:

  • Emergency Preparedness

  • Social Connections

  • Communications

This section of the Toolkit is organized with all three of these areas in mind.

Continuous Improvement

This is a living document that will grow over time as Local Coordinators – like you! – share their successes and other lessons learned. If your LNN does something really well that you think might be worth replicating in other LNNs, please share it with MNN central and we’ll work to incorporate it into the toolkit.

If you have an idea for an article or tool that you think does not yet exist, please request it.

Ask for Help

If any part of this is unclear, if you need coaching, or if you want a partner to work with, MNN is here to support your efforts. Your LNN’s success is essential to MNN’s success.
